1. Who we are

LocateNG is developed and maintained by Mazimum. The app is designed for Nigerian users who need to identify their current state, local government area (LGA), and geopolitical zone — without an internet connection.

2. What data we collect

LocateNG collects no personal data. Specifically:

• We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any account information.
• We do not transmit your GPS coordinates to any server.
• We do not track your movements over time on any external system.
• We do not share your data with third parties for marketing or analytics purposes.

3. Location data

LocateNG requests access to your device's GPS location. This is the core function of the app — to tell you which Nigerian state and LGA you are in.

Your GPS coordinates are:

• Processed entirely on your device using offline boundary data
• Never uploaded to any server or cloud service
• Optionally cached on your device only, to provide a last-known location when the app starts cold
• Cleared when you uninstall the app

3.1 Location history

LocateNG stores your recent location records (state, LGA, zone, coordinates, and timestamp) on your device only. This history is never transmitted to any server and can be cleared at any time from within the app's History screen or by clearing the app's storage.

4. Emergency SMS feature

When you use the SOS Emergency SMS feature, the app composes a text message containing your GPS coordinates, state, LGA, and a Google Maps link. This message is sent using your device's built-in SMS application.

LocateNG does not send this message on your behalf, does not store the message content, and does not access your contacts list beyond the single emergency number you choose to save within the app.

Your emergency contact number is stored only on your device using Android's secure DataStore and is never transmitted externally.

5. Advertising (Google AdMob)

LocateNG uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. Google AdMob may collect certain device identifiers and usage data to serve relevant ads in accordance with Google's own privacy policy.

6. Permissions we request

• ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION — to determine your GPS position for state and LGA lookup
• VIBRATE — to alert you when approaching a state border
• INTERNET — required by Google AdMob to load advertisements only

No other permissions are requested. The app does not access your camera, microphone, contacts, files, or any other device resource.

7. Children's privacy

LocateNG does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13. The app is suitable for general audiences and serves a public safety function.

8. Data retention

Because no data is transmitted to external servers, there is no data for us to retain. The only data stored is on your device (cached location, location history, and emergency contact number), and this is deleted when you uninstall the app.

9. Your rights

Since we collect no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. If you wish to clear locally cached data, you can do so by clearing the app's storage in your device settings, or by uninstalling the app.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage users to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
